Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe AG

With the narrow gauge Zillertalbahn Railway (760 mm) and the many bus lines and other bus services, Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe AG (ZVB AG) is the most frequently used public transport provider throughout the Zillertal Valley.

The Company, which was founded in 1899 as a rail company only, has also been active in public bus transport since 1935. ZVB AG, with its headquarters in Jenbach, currently has 170 employees. The majority stockholders and thus the majority owners are the communities of the Zillertal Valley and the marketing community Jenbach. At hourly intervals, and in the winter also sometimes every half an hour, both diesel electric driving trailers and locomotive push-pull trains operate on the 32 km route between Jenbach and Mayrhofen. 746 KW diesel locomotives were purchased for these trains in 2004. These locomotives were constructed specially for Zillerbahn Railway and are also available for high performance goods transport, which is currently undertaken with roll-block wagons

Transport Capability

Every year approximately 2.00 million passengers are transported on public trains, approximately 1.31 million passengers on public buses and approximately 44,000 passengers on the steam train. The proportion of schoolchildren and students on the railways and buses is approximately 50% of the total, making it an important form of transport for the Zillertal Valley.

Zillertaler Verkehrsbetriebe AG has been a partner in the Tirol transport association since 1995.
